College Cup: Wildcats Nip Zips

After unplayable field conditions forced Sunday's third-round game between fifth-seeded Akron and Northwestern to be moved from Akron to Evanston, the lower-seeded hosts made good on the gift with a 1-0 upset victory to advance into the College Cup quarterfinals. Elsewhere, Wake Forest hammered Dartmouth, 7-0 and UNC moved on with a 3-2 OT win over Illinois-Chicago.

D-I Tourney Teams Announced

The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee announced today the 64-team field for the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. Thirty-one conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 33 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket.

For the second straight year, the Duke women's soccer team's season has come to a close in the NCAA Tournament as the 15th-ranked and third-seeded Blue Devils fell, 6-1, at second-ranked and top-seeded UCLA at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

BCS Favors Sooners

Oklahoma jumped past Texas into the second spot in the BCS Standings and earned a spot in the Big 12 title game after the standings broke a three-way tie atop the Big 12 South.

D-I XC: Gale-Force Win

Oregon's Galen Rupp sprinted to a win in the men's race to pace his team's title. On the women's side, Sally Kipyego took the individual crown and Washington won the team race. .
